The Holy Land where Kodi Swamigal did penance
(Meditation)
Neither the scorching heat of the sun nor the torrential rain at Land’s End deterred the mahaan, who was in his element from morning to evening in the dunes of Dhanushkodi. Kodi Swamigal’s mastery over the five elements that made up this physical body made it possible for him to stand for hours at a stretch.

Every soul who has witnessed Kodi Swamigal Dhanushkodi has described this unexplainable act of Standing ontop of a mound with two hands raised, facing the rising sun from Morning to evening.
The lone figure of Kodi Swamigal stood amidst the expansive dunes of Dhanushkodi, far from the bustling harbour where crowds of visitors thronged. Deeply immersed in an extraordinary penance, balanced on one leg, his eyes were fixed on the point where sea and sky met.
Despite the constant hustle and bustle, Kodi Swamigal remained unnoticed, as if an invisible shield protected him from the curious gazes of passersby. The radiant aura of his spiritual practice seemed to shroud him, making him blend into the ordinary surroundings.
The Fisherman’s good omen
When the Dhanushkodi fishermen visited the sea for their fishing duties, they saw Kodi Swamigal in
intense penance. They considered him a lucky charm. However, they did not realise that this was the
gift of a lifetime, witnessing a miracle that went undocumented in any form. This memory remains in
the hearts of the individuals who encountered the enlightened being.
The locals hear stories that Kodi Swamigal is the guardian of the Dhanushkodi hamlet and will
never leave the shores.
Interestingly, even to this date, fishermen who carry out their fishing duties near the temple visit the shrine, pray, and have annaprasadham daily at the temple. Now eighty-nine, Chelladurai recalls witnessing this divine presence as a ten-year-old at Dhanushkodi, a memory etched in time.
He vividly describes how, on a typical day, a group of stray dogs formed an unspoken alliance around Kodi Swamigal. In the quietude of the sands, the dogs became his silent companions, sharing in the sacred energy of his penance. Kodi Swamigal would distribute biscuits to his four-legged friends with a tender smile, acknowledging their quiet companionship.
Kodi Swamigal descended from the mound as the sun dipped below the vast horizon. With unwavering devotion, he offered whatever little he possessed—money or food the visitors gave when they visited Dhanushkodi - to the expansive Indian Ocean. This simple act later evolved into a significant annual event – Kadal Poojai, commemorating the divine phenomenon that graced the Land’s End, Dhanushkodi.
