'matrah sarva bhutanam, gavah sarv sukh prada'
"The cow, being the mother of all living entities, gives every kind of happiness to all."
Goshala - An integral part of our life
Goshala and Gau Seva are deeply rooted in Hindu mythology and the Upanishads. They reflect cows' spiritual, health, ecological, cultural, and ethical significance.
  • In Hindu mythology, the cow is considered the abode of 33 crore deities. It is seen as Kamadhenu, the divine bovine goddess, who grants all wishes and desires.
  • The Atharva Veda highlights the therapeutic benefits of cow products and their role in maintaining overall health and well-being.
  • As suggested in the Vedas, the communal care of cows fosters cooperation, unity, and mutual respect within communities.

The origin of Kodi Swamigal's goshala

The calling of Siddha purushas to their devotees is as enigmatic as their presence. 2018 Kodi Swamigal, through para kaya pravesam, instructed Mrs Bama Balaji to offer a gho dhanam. Without knowing how it works and whom to contact and deliver it to, Kodi Thatha picked the person to whom this gho dhanam would go. He specifically chose a person from a particular village. At that time, we did not know this village would play an important role, and that is where the first goshala would be coming.

The key factor in choosing the person is ensuring that the gomadha is attended to with love and care. The recipient deeply longed to breed a cow, which she expressed to her mother, the housemaid at Thabovanam temple.

When the guru says not to explore the instruction's beginning and end, the aim is simply to follow it since they have already identified the cow. On her way to Pondicherry, Mrs Bama Balaji stopped at Nedumaram village, prayed to Kodi Thatha, and handed over the cow to the recipient, a native of that village.

The sequence of events is 3 years before the opening of the goshala at Nedumaram in Oct 2021 upon Kodi Swamigal's divine instructions.

The desire to have a goshala at Puravipalayam

When good things happen or are directed by the divine, one has to be a mere witness to the sequence of events unfolding in front of you. One of the trust's well-wishers who has seen the gho pooja during the Kadal poojai contacted us and shared an experience of visiting a goshala in Manavasi in southern Tamil Nadu.

While thinking about these events, Mrs. Bama Balaji wished to have a gomadha for Puravipalayam. She contacted her husband, who was going to Puravipalayam from Trichy, and instructed him to see if he could identify a gomadha at Manavasi. Upon reaching the town, by the blessings of Kodi Swamigal, a gomadha was determined. Mr Balaji immediately arranged the transportation to ensure it reached our Annadhanam centre at Puravipalayam.

Today at the Kodi Swamigal's goshala at Nedumaram Village, there are six cows, seven calves & 1 bull. Kodi Swamigal himself handpicked every member of the goshala. Upon divine instructions from Kodi Swamigal,
each gomadha is identified and procured with all the necessary things in place and ensured that it is being well-kept at our goshala with the divine blessings of Kodi Swamigal.
The first gomadha was procured at Manavasi village in 2018 for our annadhanam centre at Puravipalayam.

Kodi Swamgial's first goshala
With the blessings of Kodi Thatha, our trust has established a goshala at Nedumaram village, Chengalpattu District. For the past three years, as per Kodi thatha's instructions, devotees have been visiting the goshala, performing gho-pooja, offering annadhanam, and involving in maintenance activities of the goshala.

Every Saturday, annaprasadham is prepared at the Tabovanam temple in Perungudi. Volunteers then take the prasadham and travel to the village to offer it to Kodi thatha at the goshala and to the villagers.

Ghoseva - Offering yourself into divine service

In this part of the land, cows are considered holy. They are not just animals that provide milk and manure. Cows are as important as the mother in the family. Wherever there is a cow, an abundance of happiness flows. The heavens, too, shower their choicest blessings on the place.

Seemantham / Valaikaapu - Baby Shower at our Goshala

For the first time in our Kodi Gosala, under the orders of Kodi Thatha, a Seemantham was held for Gomatha Nandini. Like a bride, Nandini was adorned with ornaments and beautified by the loving members of our Kodi family.

With Kodi Thatha's blessings, the Seemantham was conducted excellently for Nandini, and this morning, on 19.07.2024, she gave birth to a healthy male calf. By the grace of Kodi Thatha, both mother and calf are well.
