July 12-13, 2022 Kodi Swamigal Thava Bhoomi, Dhanushkodi
Kalasam - The spiritual antenna to absorb cosmic energy
The kalasam (or kalasha) is the temple spire cap that crowns South Indian temples. It is more than a decorated element on top of the gopuram. Its specific measurements and sacred geometry make it a mighty vessel to connect the temple and the cosmic energy. Soon after the completion of the 22nd year Kadal Poojai at Dhanushkodi, Kodi Swamgial gave the following plan to the members of the trust to establish the process of placing a kalasam on top of the gopuram which houses the padaukaa (divine feet of Kodi Swamigal).
Kodi Swamigal's divine instructions for the event
The divine presence of Kodi Swamigal directs every act carried out by our trust. Kodi Swamigal gives every function's what, when, where, and how.
Full moon day
Kodi Swamigal's instructions for the event to be conducted when the full moon is at its peak.In the shining light of the moon reflecting on the waters of Indian Ocean and Bay of Bengal, the sacred proceedings unfolded as per his divine wish.
Receiving the divine energy
Kodi Swamigal instructed the members to do the Kalasam's placement on top of the gopuram, allowing devotees to experience the divine vibrations of the paadhukaa as they would if they stepped inside the shrine when open for darshan.
14 Mulaipaaris
Mulaipaari offerings accompany every function of Kodi Swamigal. This event had 14 Mulaipaaris, which were offered to the sea after the Kalasam was established on the full moon night.
Marupoojai
Kodi Swamigal instructed to do Marupoojai for this event also, which started during the Kadal poojai earlier that year in 2022.
Salutations to the guru
Offering our prayers to the ocean of grace.
Invoking cosmic energy to descend inside the kalasam requires more than just rituals. It is the surrender of self to the elements of nature and offering yourself totally to your guru's grace.

Making a gopuram (Mountain) with arichal munai sand and do abhishekam
On the morning of the event, Kodi Swamigal instructed us to do the morning abhishekam differently. The arichal munai sand is taken every year after Kadal Poojai by two devotees and brought to Thabovanam temple in Chennai. The sand is offered as Archana to the Thabovanam Oonjal archive murthy. The sand is then provided as prasadham to everyone with challenging situations at home.
Whatever sand remained at Thabovanam, Kodi Swamigal instructed it to be brought to Dhanushkodi and placed in front of the moola vigraham in the form of a mountain. Kodi Swamigal instructed to perform abhishekam to the sand while abhishekam for the moola vigraham happened.
After the pooja, the members took the sand to immerse themselves in the sea during the morning padayal.
