NEDuMARAM VILLAGE COMMUNITY OUTREACH

How is the Puravipalayam Sri La Sri Ponmudi Kodi Swamigal Charitable Trust, a Chennai-based not-for-profit organisation, become an integral part of Nedumaram Village in Chengalpet?

The divine instructions from Kodi Swamigal

Our Trust follows a unique path, guided solely by divine instructions from Kodi Swamigal, and we take on each initiative with care and purpose. We don't focus on religious or political affiliations; instead, we assess each opportunity individually, ensuring that our actions align with a higher calling.

Be the change you want to be
Since opening its first goshala in Nedumaram Village in 2021, the Puravipalayam Sri La Sri Ponmudi Kodi Swamigal Charitable Trust has worked to bring positive change to the community. What began as a mission to maintain the goshala quickly grew, guided by the blessings of Kodi Swamigal, into a deeper commitment to serve the village. Our volunteers provide annadhanam and strive to understand and meet the needs of the villagers, becoming part of the community to inspire meaningful transformation.
Creating awareness
Our trust members discovered that many villagers were unaware of various government schemes and opportunities that could benefit them. Taking it upon themselves to bridge this gap, they have actively worked to inform and empower the community. One such effort is introducing the PM internship scheme to local youth, helping them access valuable opportunities for growth and success.
Together we transform
Our vision is to help Nedumaram become a shining example—a model village known for all the right reasons as per the divine instructions of Kodi Swamigal. By supporting the youth and working hand-in-hand with the community, we hope to create lasting change and inspire others. With Kodi Swamigal’s blessings, we believe that every effort we make will bring hope, strength, and progress to Nedumaram, showing what can be achieved when a community comes together with a shared purpose.
Leading from the front
True transformation begins with leaders who believe in it. Our Trust shared this vision with the Panchayat leader of Nedumaram, a person of great openness who looks beyond political lines to put his village first. Inspired by the potential for positive change, he embraced the vision wholeheartedly. With his support, we reached out to the villagers, reassuring them that our Trust was here for their benefit and inviting them to join this journey. His encouragement has been key in uniting the community, helping them believe in the transformation that we’re all working towards together.

Next steps
Follow up with the camp, after listening to the queries from the youngsters of Nedumaram Village regarding job opportunities, their challenges and interests. A dedicated Whatsapp group was created with Nedumaram village youngsters and our members of the trust who are employed as HR professionals in various organisations.

The group acts as a platform to exchange job opportunities, identify their gaps and guide them with soft skills and life skills training. The second camp is scheduled for 1st week of December 2024.
Kodi Swamigal emphasises the transformative power of selfless giving. He believes empowering youth is a direct path to spiritual elevation, fostering a sense of unity and growth of the community.
