The Thabovanam Temple
Kodi Swamigal temple at Thabovanam, Chennai, is of divine importance. It is the first temple for Kodi Swamigal, where Kumbaabishekam was performed according to his holy instructions. The celestial event happened in March 2020, just before the entire world experienced the unknown face of the COVID-19 Epidemic.
The Divine Calling
During a divine interaction, Kodi Swamigal instructed Mrs Bama Balaji, Managing Trustee of Puravipalayam SriLaSri Ponmudi Kodi Swamigal Charitable Trust, to perform ' Kalasam Niruthum Vizha' (Kumbaabhishekam) at the Thabovanam shrine nine months after the temple's construction.

When Mrs Bama Balaji expressed uncertainty about conducting the Kumbaabhishekam, Kodi Swamigal directed her to a Bhairava upasakar, promising she would find someone there to help. At the priest's place, she met his grandson, Shri. Arunachala Sivaachaariyar, who had recently returned from Australia. This chance encounter proved significant, as Sivaachaariyar would later become the designated conductor for all Kodi Swamigal's ceremonies at both Thabovanam and Dhanushkodi.
The Australian priest & Kodi Swamigal
"It's rare to find priests who fully devote themselves to spiritual mastery (Siddha Purusha) while strictly following Vedic and scriptural traditions in their daily deity worship ."
Kodi Swamigal's divine instructions for the celestial event
Every act carried out by our trust is directed by the divine presence of Kodi Swamigal. The What, When, Where and How of every function is given by Kodi Swamigal himself. Every year Guru Poojai's key components are said well in advance and we strive to implement them.
Pancha maha purusha yaagam
In a rare and profound spiritual event, Kodi Swamigal ordained the performance of the "Pancha Maha Purusha Yaagam" for the Kalasam Niruthum Vizha at Thabovanam. This sacred ritual, steeped in ancient tradition, carries immense spiritual significance - having been previously performed only for three revered saints: Adi Shankara, Sri Raghavendra, and Sri Ramanujar.

What makes this occurrence particularly remarkable is the divine intervention of Kodi Swamigal himself. The trust members at Thabovanam, though initially unaware of this powerful ritual's intricacies, were blessed to receive his guidance. Throughout each stage of the precisely choreographed ceremony, Kodi Swamigal's divine presence ensured the sacred guidelines and offerings were followed with utmost devotion.
6 days event
The grand celebrations for the Kumbaabhishekam were spread over 6 days from March 03, 2020, to March 08, 2020. Kodi Swamigal himself gave every detail of the event and how it should be done through divine instructions. We witnessed what was unfolding in front of us during those 6 days.
Mulaipaari
Before the event, Kodi Swamigal instructed us to have 5 Mulaipaaris be offered for the Pancha Bhutas (Five elements of nature). He ordered that the mulaipaaris to be nurtured and brought up by a transgender.
Madipichai (Ask for alms) in the street for 3 months.
Kodi Swamigal instructed Mrs Bama Balaji, Managing Trustee of the trust to go and seek Madipichai (Asking for alms) from the general public.
