24th year Kadal Poojai at Thava Bhoomi, Dhanushkodi
Kodi Swamigal's divine instructions for this year Kadal Poojai
Every act carried out by our trust is directed by the divine presence of Kodi Swamigal. The What, When, Where and How of every function is given by Kodi Swamigal himself. Every year Kadal Poojai's key components are said well in advance and we strive to implement them.
Mulaipaari Procession
For the 24th year, Kodi Swamigal called upon us to carry 151 Mulaipaaris and offer them to the Indian Ocean, which is on the right side of his temple, at the very spot where the daily Padayal offerings take place. With the third year in succession, the expectations and excitement were high among the devotees for the mulaipaari procession.
Colour coded dress
For the 24th year, Kodi Swamigal instructed us to wear two sets of colour-coded dress for the core members. On the Kadal Poojai day - Yellow was the theme, and for Marupoojai - Red was the theme.
Pournami Poojai
Second successive year, Kodi Swamigal told the members to bring the Oonjal Urchava Murthy (The deity) from Thabovanam to Dhanushkodi. he instructed us to perform the 3 AM pournami pooja at his Thava Bhoomi in Dhanushkodi.
Maru poojai
Marupoojai, an offering to the Sea Mother, is a sacred tradition once practised by the fishermen of Dhanushkodi. This ritual was their heartfelt expression of gratitude to the sea for blessing them with abundant harvests throughout the year. However, over time, this ancient custom had faded into history. With Kodi Swamigal's divine guidance, the members of the trust have revived it since 2022 and every year, it is the closing ceremony ritual the day after Kadal Poojai.
Sand from Arichal Munai
Every year, after the culmination of Dhanushkodi Kadal Poojai, two members from the trust walk to Arichal Munai at Dhanushkodi and collect sand from where the two seas confluence, as per Kodi Thatha's Instructions. This sand is brought to Thabovanam temple in Chennai. This is given as prasadham for those who seek deseprate help or divine intervention in their life.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with rhythmic clapping, vibrant native dances, and music, as devotees, brimming with devotion, carried the mulaipaaris.
24th year Dhanushkodi Kadal Poojai was a grand celebration organized by our trust, uniting devotees from all parts of the world. With Kodi Swamigal’s divine direction, every detail of the event was meticulously planned and carried out, making sure everything flowed smoothly.

From the celebrations on Kadal Pooja eve, the Annaprasadham, a pivotal part of every function, was lovingly arranged by volunteers who ensured that no soul left Thava Bhoomi without being fed. On the day of the main event, volunteers gathered in the early hours to kick off the day with a Gho Pooja, followed by the sacred Yagna. The Mulaipaaris were then transported to the venue, where devotees and volunteers eagerly awaited their arrival to start the blessed procession.

The Mulaipaaris followed the 'Padayal', a grand divine moment, captivating all present as waves of grace and blessings flowed from Kodi Swamigal.

After the padayal, the much-anticipated Mahaannaprasadham was served. Our volunteers, as always, ensured that no one left the temple without a meal, continuing their year-round service of feeding all who come.

Maru poojai at Kodi Swamigal Thava Bhoomi, Dhanushkodi

For the 24th year of the marupoojai, members of the trust followed the guidance of Kodi Swamigal. He chose two devotees to prepare the prasadham (sacred food) to be offered to the Sea Mother.

The marupoojai ceremonies began early in the morning after the kadal poojai . The color theme for the event, chosen by Kodi Swamigal, was red. While the two devotees made the prasadham, the other members prepared for the morning abhishekam (ritual bath) at the shrine.

After the abhishekam, the members carried the prasadham and pooja items. They then walked about a kilometre through the backwaters to reach the Bay of Bengal shore, where they held a gratitude pooja for the Sea Mother.
