Varadarajalu and others tried to keep pace with the sage as he walked, but they were unsuccessful. When they reached the shore, the sage looked deeply at Varadarajalu as if they shared a special connection.
The sage thanked Varadarajalu for visiting him when no one else did. He then said that he would visit Varadarajalu’s home on the full moon day, making the latter very happy and excited.
Varadarajalu’s friend, Mr. Sivasankara Menon, worked on a ship. He considered Kodi Swamigal, the area's guardian and didn’t believe he would leave the place. Varadarajalu, therefore, waited quietly for the full moon day.
The awaited day arrived, and Varadarajalu was excited. The Dhanushkodi train, too, had arrived earlier than usual. Varadarajalu offered snacks to Swamiji at 7:30 AM, and he was silent till 9:30 AM.
Varadarajalu’s heart raced as he remembered his friend’s words. When his anxiety peaked, Kodi Swamigal, with eyes closed, asked,
“Is there a ship coming?”Varadarajalu eagerly rose and glanced towards the east, spotting a ship on the horizon. He confirmed its presence and informed Kodi Swamigal, who descended with him. Excited about the possibility of a divine event in his house, Varadarajalu couldn’t contain his joy. As they descended, a stray dog joined them. Kodi Swamigal paused, whispered to the dog that he was leaving, and asked it to guard the place. The dog remained as they moved on.
Kodi Swamigal, for the first time, based on documented evidence, left Dhanushkodi and visited Varardarajalu's house at Mandapam near Rameswaram. You can read more about the detailed divine experiences of Kodi Swamigal in the newly launched book
