Kodi Swamigal -Tales from Trichy
Kodi Swamigal resided in Trichy for over five years. Throughout this period, he joyfully visited devotees’ homes whenever they requested.

Shri. Palaniappa Servai, Palakkarai, Trichy

How a routine temple visit led to a profound relationship between a devotee and a mystic that touched many lives.
Palaniappa Servai was a deeply religious man from Trichy. Every Friday, without fail, he would visit the magnificent Thiruvanaikovil temple to pray to Goddess Akilandeswari. One such Friday, someone told him about a holy man named Kodi Swamigal who was staying at the nearby Rangoon Reddiyar Choultry.

Intrigued, Palaniappa Servai went to meet this mystic. Something about Kodi Swamigal drew him in, and he began visiting regularly. Then one full moon night in the late 1950s, Kodi Swamigal made an unexpected request - he wanted to visit Palaniappa's home.

They drove to Palaniappa's house at Palakkarai in his Chevrolet car (number MSV 9970). The moment they arrived, Kodi Swamigal walked straight to the southern part of the house and settled near a window.
His peculiar attire amazed everyone - in Trichy's scorching heat, he wore eight woollen shawls and four or five red vests underneath! Yet surprisingly, he showed no signs of discomfort or sweating. He didn't wear any religious marks like tilak or vibhuti on his forehead either.

The term arts and crafts is also applied, especially in the United States and mostly to hobbyists' and children's output rather than items crafted for daily use.
Palaniappa was so devoted to Kodi Swamigal that he forgot about his business. He took care of every little thing the holy man needed. Initially, only a few people knew about Kodi Swamigal's presence. One regular visitor was Shri Varadarajalu, whom Kodi Swamigal had a special fondness for - he would always tell Palaniappa to give him extra sweets!

House: As word spread about this divine presence, crowds began flocking to Palaniappa's. Kodi Swamigal had an uncanny ability to predict the number of visitors who would come each day. Once, he told Palaniappa to prepare food for 40 people—and precisely 40 people showed up!

The story took another turn when Palaniappa's nephew, Ekambaram, came from Chennai to seek Kodi Swamigal's blessings. To everyone's surprise, Kodi Swamigal asked Ekambaram to take him to Chennai. In June 1961, he left Trichy and spent the next six months in Chennai.
